[she's skeptical, and that's just wonderful timing. however, she does decide to pick up and head downstairs.]

it's late at night, and while she figures they've got a lot of flatmates that are night owls, she's quite nonetheless as she heads down to the first floor and towards ren's room.

knocking once, she lets herself in.]

Oh, it's actually tidy in here.

[forethinking]

I told you.

(The only mess that can be seen is a laundry bag and a few tools on his desk. Ren, in his sweatpants and t-shirt, pulls out a chair for her before he takes a seat by the bed, stretching his arms above his head.)

I guess we can head out if anything.

(No curfew, not at ADI's!)

[she takes a seat, looking around his apartment. the layout is basically the same as hers, though she imagines there is some freedom in not having roommates.

her eyes meet his.]

Maybe.

Do you know how many people are in this place who aren't originally from Gloucester?

[forethinking]

(Ren's avoiding getting attached to it, but that's inevitable. He will start decorating soon, and his room will most likely become a forest with all the flora that he intends to take care of.)

Here? I suppose it's most of us.

(He listens in, a lot, but so far he hasn't been able to create a profile of each and every person.)

From my world, only Akechi and I, though.

[there are a few people who live in the flophouse who don't seem otherwise too out of place, unlike the majority of the people who walk these halls at any given hour. she is only bound to assume the same of those staying at the ADI's apartments.

she tilts her head.]

A friend?

[removing one foot from her slippers, she puts it up on the chair and hugs her arms around it.]

There are four from my world, but they're not ... exactly friends. [colleagues, in a distanced way] Everyone else is really kind, though. [she can't help but think of harry, bumbling his way about and having long conversations of everything and nothing with her, and smiles lightly.] Might be good to know who we all are.

[forethinking]

Something like it.

(Rivals? Lovers? Enemies? ??? ? ? Who the fuck knows, not Ren. Either way, he's glad to listen to her talk. Imagining the world as another is always an interesting exercise of empathy, and should they try to explain their experiences, probably they'd both end up confused, but happy that the other has listened.

Ren, unfortunately, has made a promise to keep it shut.)

Do you know Loki?

(That's the only person he'd like to keep an eye on as of late.)

[immediately, all wanda can think of is: what did he do?

I've met him. He's... Something.

(Like the type to pull a knife at him for that sweet entity feeding. It's in his best interest to learn about the man, considering what he represents to him and to Akechi.)

He is full of tricks and disarming words.

[she can't help the light shake of her shoulders as she tries hard to not laugh at ren's assessment of the god. he is not the most popular of individuals where she's from, but he's been kind enough to her.

far from unsavory, at least.]

Not that I'm vouching for him, but he's not as terrible as I was told.

ACTIONNN

Neal is always happy to encounter someone else who enjoys cooking. Mutual exchange of tips and recipes--it's fun. And Ren seems very talented for a kid his age. He doesn't usually go to places uninvited--well, no, that's a lie, he does it all the time.

Anyway.

Knock knock!

[forethinking]

The fact that Neal caught Ren at home is a miracle in itself. Ren's been out a bunch for his vigilant work, as well as hanging out in A1 more often than not. He's not doing anything special, just lying in bed -- and who visits him, really? He fully expects it to be Akechi, so he doesn't bother hiding the infiltration tools on his desk before he opens to see a new friend.

A smile, and moving to his side so the other can come in.

"Hey, Neal."

[conning]

Neal inclines his head in a polite little sort-of-bow before entering, hands tucked into his pockets. He peeks around the apartment with curiosity, wondering what kind of space Ren and his roommates share. It says a lot--personal bedrooms, yes, but common spaces sometimes even moreso.

[forethinking]

Ren has no roommates, so everything Neal's eyes fall upon belongs to him. The tools atop the desk, along with a few lockpicks, the flowers, the clothes folded on the top bed, the shoes next to his door.

What does make Ren a little worried is the reason behind the fact that Neal is here at all - does he need any help? Is he okay?

"How are you?"

[conning]

"I'm good," he says, smiling reassuringly. "Just wanted to come and see how you were doing, really. You and a couple of other friends here."

That's when his attention lands on Ren's tools. His eyebrows go up. "...Nice kit."

[forethinking]

"Ah. I was nervous that something might have happened."

He explains the relieved sigh that escaped him, his hand on his chest to calm an anxious heart... That did not soothe once Neal brings his attention to the tools.

"... Thank you. Are you... Familiar?"

What a way to ask if the other is a thief, too.

[Akechi genuinely hadn't wanted to bother with the "real" Halloween party, but Ren had wanted to go, and after everything that had happened, he hadn't the heart to refuse. He'd put in his appearance, chatted with a few people, and as soon as Ren was ready to leave, followed behind him. Honestly, he doesn't know how Ren's even managing to walk so easily in those heels; were he in a better frame of mind, he'd even appreciate the way he manages to make the dress look so graceful on his slender frame. As it stands, he's exhausted, physically and mentally worn out, and the sight of the apartment is a welcome one as he opens the door for the other boy.]

Take your shoes off, [he says brusquely as he shrugs off his coat to hang by the door.] I don't want your heels scratching the floorboards.

[forethinking]

(Ren had an interesting time. He's checked the people he cares about and even made new acquaintances. As exhausted as he is, he managed to laugh, be enchanted at someone's expression once he made coffee with beautiful flowers on the foam. All in all, he is pleased, and how Akechi was nice enough to come with him makes his heart feel a little warmer.

Once they make it, Akechi didn't even have to say it, he was already disposing of the heels and his feet touched the floor gracefully. Ren takes the cigarettes from his purse and gestures to Akechi that he'll be at the balcony for a while. There is no expectation that Akechi would follow - after all, he's dead inside, isn't he?)
